This Darien builder's home dated back to the 1800's. It had been turned into a duplex and had become a town eyesore. The home was fraught with construction, code and zoning challenges. We gutted the structure and abandoned the Italianate style for a Dutch gambrel look. The gambrel style enabled an open floor plan that worked within the narrow confines of the existing footprint. Today, it has a magnificent open floor plan and abundant living space on three levels.
